History

Hillsdale Farmers Market

In 2005, founders Timi Bates and Caroline Stewart came up with the idea of starting a farmers market in rural Hillsdale, NY. After extensive research and input from several local farmers, the Hamlet Park became the venue for the Hillsdale Farmers Market. With live music by longtime Hillsdale resident farmer, Fred Laing and faithful volunteer, Sharon Hinkley leading children’s activities, the market grew in popularity and size making the demand for fresh local food and specialty products clearly evident.

Copake Farmers Market

In 2012, founder Roberta Roll started the Copake Farmers Market located in the center of the Hamlet of Copake, NY. The market was a focal point for the community and had major impact on the “wave of revitalization” in the town. The market provided a consistent venue for local musicians and built a loyal customer base for both farmers and food producers.

Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market

The year 2014 became pivotal with the merging of both the Hillsdale and Copake markets becoming one market known as the Copake Hillsdale Farmers Market. We are honored to have the Harvest Barn in the beautiful Roeliff Jansen Park as our permanent venue where we continue to support their founding vision of bringing the best variety of local food and agricultural products to our customers and community. We strive to contribute to the growth and vitality of the towns of Hillsdale and Copake as well as the surrounding communities in Columbia County.
