Owner Lynette Hatfield shares her origin story:
“I have a Covid silver lining story! During the pandemic I, like so many others, started having fun in the kitchen and experimenting with jams and preserves et voilá, I was really good at it!
When I was a girl I spent many fairly steamy hours helping (getting in the way while watching) Mom and Grandma “can” all kinds of produce from our garden in the Missouri Ozarks.
I guess something stuck. After not even thinking about canning anything for years (pesky work schedules) I really fell into creating delicious treats with my own skill set.
Refining their methods, no pectin, a fraction of the sugar! I was able to create a delicious line of products. Far superior to anything commercially available and often not as expensive!
Initially I was making gifts for friends and family but after some encouragement and positive feedback I decided I was not going back to the corporate world. Lynette’s Precocious Preserves was born.
Hand made in tiny batches in Kent CT. I use traditional methods with no preservatives, never any artificial ingredients.
Preserved the old (best) way in the water bath method. Pairing tried and true preserving methods with new as well as classic techniques and flavor combinations. Plus my super secret ingredient!!! (ask me).
My preserves and jams are carried in several places in the Kent, CT area. JP Giffords, 45 On Main, Calf & Clover Creamery, Cornwall Market and Northern Farm and Flower in Goshen, CT. I also ship as well as create special products and labels for parties and events.
