My name is Maia Hamann and my primary interest is environmental science,
particularly sustainable practice and food systems.
Before beginning college, I plan to take a gap year and participate
in a WWOOFing (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms)
opportunity where I will be dedicating 3 months to learning about
sustainable farming practices firsthand.
Agriculture has been a meaningful part of my life since childhood.
I attended Waldorf school across from a small organic farm, where
I developed an appreciation for locally grown food and the overall
practice of farming. I hope to continue learning about sustainable
agriculture and eventually help others build the same connection to food
community and environmental stewardship.
Maia Hamann is a senior at Taconic Hills Central School and will
be graduating this June.
